On 28 June, a one-day music festival will be held as part of the 32nd Malta Festival Poznań. One of the highlights of the event will be a performance by the Baltimore-based dream pop band Beach House. The musical duo consists of vocalist and keyboardist Victoria Legrand and guitarist, keyboardist, and backup vocalist Alex Scally. The band is one of the most acclaimed American bands. All tracks are authored by the band members. Their concert at the festival will be part of an international tour promoting their latest double album Once Twice Melody. The album consists of 18 tracks and it was released in four instalments: Once Twice Melody: Chapter One, Once Twice Melody: Chapter Two, Once Twice Melody: Chapter Three and Once Twice Melody: Chapter Four.

The album is the band’s eighth and it has already received excellent reviews from critics. Beach House scores its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart as Once Twice Melody enters atop the list. Carrie Battan of The New Yorker praised the album for its clarity and consistency and for offering a rejoinder to the cult of reinvention (review available HERE). Philip Sherburne of Pitchfork wrote, “With panoramic proportions and gleaming finishes, the band’s sprawling eighth album luxuriates in the rhapsody of sensation itself. You don’t listen to Once Twice Melody, you dissolve into it” (review available HERE). For more information about the album and the band’s music see the video interview available HERE.

Apart from music guests from the American East Coast, the Malta stage will be filled with concerts by representatives of the Polish alternative and classical music scenes. The line-up includes a concert by Maria Peszek, the singer-songwriter well-known for her bold and uncompromising lyrics that often shock the Polish public opinion. The artist has returned to the spotlight after five years with the new album Ave Maria that the artist considers being ”the most beautiful album she had ever recorded”. The Malta audience will be able to hear to two exceptional concerts namely by Bartek Wąsik – pianist, composer, arranger, member of the Kwadrofonik music band who will present his upcoming album Daydreamer arranged for the piano and by Michał Pepol – cellist, arranger, and member of the Royal String Quartet who will present work from his latest album KORA.

The concert will be held on 28 June 2022 at 17:30 at Plac Marka (Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie / Poznań International Fair). Tickets are available via the ToBilet platform and the malta-festival.pl website. More on event website.
