The Malta Festival has existed for 31 years thanks to our audience and the need to share the experience of art. This year, the festival theme was Back to the Ground. As we organised the second edition during the pandemic, we were guided by the thought of ‘coming back’ to good collaboration. The need for being together and supporting one another on so many levels is very important to us. The Malta Festival Poznań could not have happened without the support of many companies and institutions. We thank you for your involvement from the bottom of our heart.

The main partner of the 31st Malta Festival and patron of the children’s programme was the furniture manufacturer VOX, who has been supporting artists for a long time. This year, apart from supporting the actual festival, VOX helped the Malta Foundation by designing and furnishing our office. See the video of the metamorphosis.

First and foremost, the Malta Festival exists thanks to the financial support of the Poznań City Authorities, the Wielkopolska Region Authorities and the Poznań County Authorities. Moreover, the Flemish Government, the Belgian Embassy and the General Representation of the Government of Flanders in Poland, who have supported the showcasing of Flemish theatre in our country for many years, gave us the opportunity to discover the work of Milo Rau.

Last year, Malta celebrated its 30th anniversary, but for the first time the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport did not grant us a subsidy. However, our uninterrupted partnership with the numerous Malta Festival sponsors strengthens our belief that culture is an important factor in all of our lives. We are grateful to Autostrada Wielkopolska, Kulczyk Investments, Grupa Ciech, Autostrada Eksploatacja, Tempus Leasing and Toyota Bońkowscy for their support and presence at the festival. We thank individuals for becoming a Citizens’ Minister of Culture. We thank companies from the Wielkopolska Region for joining the campaign and understanding how the synergy between business and culture can contribute to building a conscious, educated and open-minded local community. We are grateful to Texet, Solar, Victus, Pałac Mierzęcin, VOX, Hormann, Merazet, and Farm-MPartner Sp. z o.o. We are also grateful to Joanna and Krzysztof Madelski for their faith in the power of culture to change the world into a better place. It is thanks to all of you that we can keep on showing important international artists to the audience in Wielkopolska.

We are also grateful to the co-organiser of the festival, Centrum Kultury Zamek, for providing a venue for the conference dedicated to Milo Rau, as well as the outdoor performances of Scena Robocza and Usta Usta Republika. We give our thanks to Grupa MTP, Poznań International Fair for making their premises available for the Projekt Krynicki concert featuring music by outstanding Polish composers, Paweł Mykietyn, Aleksander Nowak and Paweł Szymański to poems by Ryszard Krynicki. We thank Zarząd Zieleni Miejskiej, Auli Artis, Stara Rzeźnia and Brama Poznania for giving us spaces to stage our theatre projects. We are also grateful to Hotel Novotel, Restauracja Liberte 33 and Promobil fleet for their logistic support, and the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Festival for the opportunity to show the film The New Gospel at Kino Pałacowe.

For all the announcements, reports and reviews, we are grateful to the local, national and international media, as well all the journalists who came to the Malta Festival Poznań. Our special thanks go to our media patrons: Wyborcza.pl, Gazeta Wyborcza Poznań, Wysokie Obcasy, Polityka, Radio TOK FM, Vogue Polska, Didaskalia, Kultura Poznań, IKS, Notes Na 6. Tygodni, Szum, Zwierciadło, Sens and Radio Nowy Świat.

We are extremely happy that the Malta partners are involved in the festival programme, that they are part of our artistic world and contribute to the festival ambience, and most importantly, that they commit their energy to organising this great celebration of art.

We feel that the pandemic has reignited our need to celebrate being together, and this has been made possible by our partners. Thank you.
