The first open call – No Title – to be organised as part of the Malta Festival is now open. It is addressed to foreign artists, performers, activists, and animators, international tandems and groups, including people fleeing wars and unlawfulness, who are currently living in Poland. We want to give them the floor and lend them our voice, to see, understand and feel the reality we are living in together through their sensitivity, logic and experience. We are waiting for proposals of projects incorporating artistic activities, interventions, objects, exhibition, performance, sound installation, community work, field work, online work, workshops or other form of art.
Nothing is certain, everything surprises and scares us. This open call was not supposed to look like this. A month ago, we intended to invite foreign artists living in Poland to revisit, or remake Poland anew versus the existing one […] The graphic design that was ready and waiting for the announcement of the open call had the title “Re-making Poland” on it.
Today, as I write these words, Poland as it was a month ago is no more. We may not wake up to bombings yet, but we are being bombarded by thoughts and emotions all day and night long. Fury is mixed with hope, tenderness with desire, and the political is dissolved into the private. […] People are trying to act, to be ‘effective’ in their home towns.
Chris is reading up to understand Eastern Europe; before it was easier for him to live in Poland without being aware of the historical contexts.
Olena is setting up an exhibition that she had been planning for a long time. She escaped from Ukraine on the first day of the invasion, while her husband stayed home.
Natalia is helping evacuate black people from Ukraine in between rehearsals for a theatre play.
Hazim is writing poetry as he awaits the decision regarding his asylum in a guarded shelter for foreigners.
Yulia is negotiating with the curators her involvement in the fight for free Ukraine, she does not consent to half-measures, one has to push from each side as there is ‘hope in the dark’.
Kasia is planning a multicultural garden in the Poznań allotment gardens. [...]
One of the ideas we had for the original open call should stay, though. We want to lend the visibility and the loud voice of a large international festival to foreign artists living in Poland. These people can renew the face of this earth. We do not know what will happen in a month when we read through the open call entries we receive. The projects selected by an international jury comprised of Yulia Krivich, Joanna Pańczak, Dorota Semenowicz, Olga Stryzniova will be presented at the 32nd Malta Festival Poznań. The maximum budget per project cannot exceed PLN 6500 inclusive of tax. The deadline for submissions of entries is 3 April. The competition winners will be announced on 13 April. Bearing in mind the times we are living in, we consent to the introduction of changes, justified by the change of the socio-political situation in Poland and/or in the world, to the projects selected by the jury after the submission of entries.

COSTS:
The maximum total cost estimate per project is PLN 6500 inclusive of tax of which PLN 4000 inclusive of tax is allocated for the fee for authors and artists and PLN 2500 inclusive of tax for the production budget.
HOW TO APPLY?
To enter fill in and submit the open call form by 23.59 on 3 April 2022. The form can be filled in in Polish or English. Those who do not feel comfortable with writing in Polish or English may enclose an oral description of the project.

No Title – оголошуємо open call, присвячений закордонним мисткиням, аніматорам, перформеркам і активістам.
Розпочинаємо набір проєктів до програми Фестивалю Мальта Познань, що відбудеться 27 червня – 3 липня під гаслом «Стиснутий світ / Świat w uścisku / World Held Tight». На роботи митців і мисткинь, що використовують різні мистецькі форми, чекаємо до 3 квітня.
Стартує перший open call цьогорічного Фестивалю Мальта – No Title. Набір спрямований на міжнародних митців, перформерок, артивістів і аніматорок, міжнародні тандеми і групи, в тому числі осіб, що втікають від війн і беззаконня, та живуть зараз в Польщі. Хочемо віддати їм простір і голос, побачити, зрозуміти і почути реальність, яку розділяємо через їхню вразливість, логіку і досвід. Чекаємо на ідеї, що використовують мистецьку дію, інтервенції, об’єкт, виставку, перформанс, звукову інсталяцію, роботу зі спільнотою, польову діяльність, інтернет-діяльність, воркшопи або іншу мистецьку форму.
Ніщо не є певним, все застає зненацька – вражає. Цей open call мав бути іншим. Місяць тому він мав запрошувати Вас – закордонних мисткинь і митців, які живуть в Польщі – до переосмислення Польщі наново, напротивагу існуючій. […] Візуальні матеріали із лозунгом вже були готові – «Re-making Poland».
Тепер, коли я пишу ці слова, Польщі вже місяць як немає. Нас ще не будять бомби, але вдень і безсонними ночами нас бомбардують думки й емоції. Лють змішується з надією, вразливість з прагненням, політичне розчиняється в приватному. […] У своїх місцевостях кожна і кожен намагається щось зробити, діяти, бути «ефективним».
Хріс багато читає, щоб зрозуміти Східну Європу, досі йому було якось легше жити в Польщі без знання історичних контекстів.
Олена монтує давно заплановану виставку, вона втекла в перший день агресії, її чоловік залишився в Україні.
Наталія, між репетиціями театральної прем’єри, евакуює чорношкірих осіб з України.
Хасим пише поезію, очікуючи рішення про надання притулку в центрі для іноземців під охороною.
Юлія веде обговорює з кураторками залучення в боротьбу за вільну Україну, не погоджується на компромісні засоби, каже, що треба тиснути з усіх боків, тому що «в темряві є надія».
Кася планує міжкультурний сад на познанських ділянках.

Одна ідея з попереднього open call-у мусить залишитись: віддати простір видимості і чутності, яким володіє великий, міжнародний фестиваль, закордонним мисткиням і митцям, що мешкають в Польщі. Саме вони відновлять обличчя цієї землі. Ми не знаємо, що буде через місяць, коли ми будемо читати оголошення про open call. Проєкти, які відбере міжнародне журі в складі: Юлія Крівіч, Йоанна Паньчак, Дорота Семеновіч, Ольга Стрижньова будуть представлені під час 32. Фестивалю Мальта Познань. Максимальний бюджет одного продакшену не може перевищувати 6500 злотих брутто. Термін надсилання заявок закінчується 3 квітня. Лауреати конкурсу будуть відомі 13 квітня. Розуміючи ситуацію, в якій ми зараз перебуваємо, ми допускаємо зміни в обраних проєктах після подання заявки, зумовлені зміною соціально-політичної ситуації в Польщі і/або світі.
