  • MARIUSZ „WILK” WILCZYŃSKI INPROVISES TO MAURICE RAVEL’S BOLERO

At the end of the concert, the audience will witness Mariusz “Wilk” Wilczyński create improvised images. Mariusz “Wilk” Wilczyński is a painter, performer, director of animated films, winner of many prestigious awards. His last film Kill it and Leave This Town received the Golden Lion during the Gdynia Film Festival and was nominated to Oscars. At Malta, the artist will create a cartoon story to Maurice Ravel’s Bolero, performed live by the musicians of Sinfonia Varsovia.

The performance at Malta alludes to the project titled Wilkanoc [the title is a wordplay of the Polish word “Night” and the artist’s surname] which combines film and “Wilk’s” animated improvisation with live music. The first performance of Wilkanoc took place in 2000 in Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw. So far Mariusz Wilczyński cooperated e.g. with Tomasz Stańko, Pink Freud, Fisz, Emade, Leszek Możdżer and Pogodno.
